I am a professor at Michigan State University, on the faculty of the Department of Integrative Biology and the Kellogg Biological Station. You can reach me at [email protected] I participate in MSU's EEB Graduate Program. |
In Fall 2013 I took on the role of Chair of MSU Zoology - its last Chair.
In 2015 we transformed the department
and I became the first chair of MSU’s Department of Integrative Biology (IBIO).
Leading a department is an “interesting” challenge.
In 2018 I signed on for another tour of duty as chair of IBIO.
I have promises to keep.

My research is in the field of behavioral ecology
- the study of the ecology and evolution of behavior.
In recent years most of the hard empirical work in my lab
has been done by my grad students and postdocs,
while I devote increasing time to various sorts of service.
I am winding down my lab in anticipation of retirement.
I am no longer actively involved in undergraduate teaching
but I still contribute to graduate student training
through IBIO and MSU’s Ecology, Evolution & Behavior Program.
